Program Overview

Spend an unforgettable semester in Dingle, Ireland exploring complex interactions between humans and their environment through a variety of courses including Coastal Ecology, Oceanography, Coastal Management, and GIS for Environmental Applications.  Designed for biology majors interested in coastal and marine sciences or simply exploring another country while earning credits towards your biology degree, this semester abroad program in Ireland provides students with hands on activities solving real world problems facing our coastal communities.  Opportunities abound for independent research projects.

Looking for a short term experience?  Join us for two weeks exploring the coast in Coastal Ecology; investigating the influence of the microbial world on Irish culture in Feast, Famine, and Fermentation; exploring the genetics of Irish human and animal populations in Irish Heredity; or exploring interactions between pollinators and plants in Pollinators and Floral Ecology of Ireland.

The Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium, one of only four aquariums in Ireland serves as home base for all biology courses. Local field trips and research -based projects provide opportunities to experience first hand concepts presented in lectures.
